IsoTech Boosts Reliability Of Cementing Operations
HOUSTON-To improve slurry placement, Isolation Technologies has introduced the IsoTech Combo Tool, which
it says reduces the risk and remediation
costs associated with stage cementing
by achieving more reliable operation and
cement placement. According to the
company, the design combines an inflatable casing packer for zonal isolation
with a stage-cementing tool.
The single-tool design eliminates the
need for overdisplacement when landing
the first stage cementing plug to inflate
the ICP element, IsoTech says. A separate
free-fall plug ensures the plug is landed
without displacing mud into the shoe
track, and compromising isolation integrity
with a wet shoe, the company contin-

ues.
"When designing the Combo Tool,
we wanted to focus on what our customers
would value most: a sleeve that moves,
is more definitive when it closes, and is
more field adjustable. With fewer moving
parts, this tool with the 10-inch element
will inflate farther and conform to the
wellbore better when stage cementing
casing," says Chris Cuffe, the company's
vice president of engineering.
He says the Combo Tool also features
an internal sleeve design that eliminates
premature inflation when washing down
the casing to reach total depth.

Hexion Introduces Means
To Meet Silica Dust Limits
THE WOODLANDS, TX.-To reduce
dust generated from uncoated fracture
sand, the Oilfield Technology Group of
Hexion Inc. reports it has released its
Sentinel™ dust suppressant.
According to the company, the suppressant offers a low-cost way to reduce
respirable silica levels below Canadian
and new U.S. permissible exposure limits,
which cap respirable silica at 50 micrograms a cubic meter of air, averaged over
an eight-hour shift. Hexion says its technology keeps dust levels below 25 µg/m3.
The liquid dust control system traps
fine dust particles, remains on the proppant during transportation and transfer,
and can be applied at the sand mine,
transload or fracturing site, Hexion says.
The product is effective on all mesh
sizes, the company continues, adding
the delivery system can be mobile or
stationary, and has a small footprint on
location.

C&J Leaves Bankruptcy
Positioned For Growth
HOUSTON-C&J Energy Services Inc.
reports it has successfully completed financial restructuring and emerged from
Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
In the process, the company says it has
improved its financial position significantly
by removing $1.4 billion in debt from its
balance sheet, as well as $80 million of
annual interest expense.
"This is truly a great day for C&J
Energy Services," enthuses President and
Chief Executive Officer Don Gawick.
"The company's de-levered balance sheet
and enhanced liquidity position is an outstanding resolution for our stakeholders,
and strongly positions C&J to expand its
business as the commodity price environment improves and the industry rebounds."
C&J also announces it has entered a
$100 million revolving credit facility and
paid off outstanding amounts under its
prior debtor-in-possession facility with
proceeds from a $200 million equity rights
offering. Together with the company's
cash balance, C&J says the credit facility
gives it $220 million in liquidity.

TGS Begins Seep Study In U.S. Gulf Of Mexico
ASKER, NORWAY-TGS has begun
acquiring the Otos multibeam and seep
study, which it describes as the first stage
in a seep and geochemistry program covering the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.
The survey is designed to mirror the
successful Gigante multibeam and seep
study the company conducted in 2016 in
the Mexican Gulf of Mexico, TGS says.
The new program will cover 289,000 square
kilometers (179,500 square miles) and include 250 cores with advanced geochemistry

analysis, the company details.
"The Otos multibeam and seep study
will provide new insight into the distribution
of different source rock geology throughout
the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, and link this in a
consistent fashion to the successful survey
in Mexico," says TGS Chief Executive
Officer Kristian Johansen. "This project is
in an area where TGS has a strong track
record and a large complementary data library."

EnerQuip, a manufacturer
of torque machines, has
opened a facility in Houston. The company says the
$1 million investment, which
complements its facilities
in the Scottish cities of Aberdeen and Caithness, will
improve response times
