SUN!

Houma, La.: A Cajun Good Time

Just an hour south of New Orleans, you
will enter Houma and Louisiana's Bayou
Country. With more than 2,500 square
miles of wetlands to explore, centuries of
Cajun culture to experience, and endless
recipes to taste, Houma is the perfect place
to find your wild side.
Start day one with a trip to the Houma
Area Visitors Center. This interactive

building welcomes you to Bayou Country
with streaming videos, cultural exhibits,
and a helpful staff. Be sure to ask how
you can create a custom postcard to
send home.
Step up your adventure with a stop
at Greenwood Gator Farm. Experts in
swamp life will guide you through a real
working alligator farm, where thousands
of alligators are raised from eggs to the
beasts of the bayou. Get your camera
ready-you'll have the opportunity to hold
a baby alligator.
Work up your appetite for fresh local
cuisine at Motivatit Seafoods. This
award-winning family business uses
innovative techniques to bring Houma's
bountiful seafood to the rest of the country.
Satisfy your tastebuds at one of the many
local restaurants featuring the fresh
seafood of Bayou Country and delicious
Cajun cuisine.
Day two begins with big fun on the
bayou. A Cajun Man's Swamp Tour and
Adventures will take you into the heart
of the swamps, where you will see wildlife,
Spanish moss, and ancient cypress trees on
a leisurely pontoon boat cruise.
Learn more about Houma's history at
the beautiful Ardoyne Plantation. Built in
the 1890s, this plantation is considered one
of the largest examples of rural Victorian
Gothic architecture, with dramatic roof
peaks and elaborate details.
