to the standard "Tiny Betty" painted shoes and socks. Her original square, flowered box has a small gold label reading Sonja Henie. The swivel waist Sonja dolls may have been the first model marketed by Alexander, as the bodies are marked "Wendy Ann" and the heads are unmarked. These dolls are more difficult to find than those with marked "Sonja Henie" heads on standard five-piece bodies. The swivel waist model appears to have a different head mold than the others. Most noticeably, the jaw line is sharper and the chin more pointed. Compared to a of Sonja Henie's face in profile, the resemblance is remarkable. The swivel-waist Sonja wears one of the rarest costumes. It features peach netting, which appears to be silk rather than cotton, on the skirt and pleated sleeves. The bodice is taffeta. Under the skirt is the sized gauze underskirt worn by most Sonja dolls. It is tagged, Genuine/'Sonja Henie' Doll/Madame Alexander N.Y. USA/All Rights Reserved. As shown, there was a variety of costumes available on Sonja Henie dolls. DOLL NEWS * UFDC.ORG 43http://www.UFDC.ORG
