topic will be, "Is Seventy the New Ninety? Opportunities and Conundrums of
Global Prices."
Kenneth Hersh, CEO of NGP Energy
Capital Management, will present his
keynote address at the 11:30 a.m. luncheon. His topic is "Global Impact of North
America's Resource Revolution."
"North America's dramatic increase in
production and reserves altered the global political and economic landscapes,"
Landry observes. "This created reverberations for today's business and political
leaders that affect and will be affected by
the investment environment. We are eager
to hear Hersh's comments on these topics."
Tuesday's general session, focusing on
"geopolitics, markets and mayhem" gets
under way at 1:30 p.m., Landry mentions.
At 3:15 p.m., the first midstream-to-markets session will highlight the U.S. energy supply, which she describes as a bigger and transformed piece of the puzzle.
The first technical half-day session begins at 1 p.m. and will focus on environmental health and safety, Landry continues. Topics include new federal policies,
best permitting practices, and community outreach. A moderated session zeroes
in on the practical implementation of
leak detection and repair, and storage
tank emissions management rules.
The opening-night party is slated for 6
o'clock at the Studio Loft at the Denver
Performing Arts Complex; the theme is
"The World is Your Oyster."
Untapped Potential
Wednesday's agenda opens at 8:30 a.m.
with another executive forum where the
untapped potential of private equity will
be analyzed, Landry says.
Ambassador Christopher Hill, dean
of the Josef Korbel School of International Studies, will present the keynote address
at the 11:30 a.m. luncheon. His topic is
"From Iraq to the Rockies," Landry announces. "Ambassador Hill will draw on
his experience as U.S. ambassador to
Iraq," Landry states. "He will reflect on
how the energy puzzle influences international relations and market dynamics here
at home."
The unscripted session featuring Colorado's U.S. senators gets under way at
1:30 p.m. The 3 o'clock session will
highlight midstream to markets through a
discussion of reconfiguring transportation
and markets to solve the U.S gas market
"Rubik's Cube," Landry says.
A half-day session devoted to emerging technologies begins at 1 o'clock,

highlighting the demands to make upstream and midstream operations smarter,
cleaner, and more efficient to drive advancements in disruptive technology.
"This session will showcase the boldest
and most innovative energy technologies
in the industry," Landry announces. "Startups and growing ventures will present
their extraction, digital oil field, automation, advanced material, and environmental technologies to a shark-tank-like
panel of investors, customers and strategic partners."
The final executive forum starts at 8:30
a.m. Thursday, offering insight into positioning for success in a volatile environment, Landry says.
The 10 o'clock general session will focus on conservation in the real world, she
points out. The end-of-the-expo party, buffet and balloon drop are on tap for 11:15
a.m.
Thursday's midstream-to-market topic at 12:30 p.m. is "Natural Gas Liquids:

Hydrocarbon Shape Changing with New
Economic Fundamentals."
Throughout the conference, COGA
will present its annual Summit Awards.

Study Anticipates Growing Use
Of LNG As Transportation Fuel
PARIS-The use of natural gas as a
transportation fuel could displace more
than 1.5 million barrels a day of oil demand, a study of natural gas and liquefied
natural gas use as a transportation fuel from
IHS forecasts.
The study, LNG in Transportation:
Challenging Oil's Grip, sees a combination of drivers-environmental, technological and commercial-driving greater
adoption of natural gas in transport. It predicts the highest switching levels will be
in high-fuel consuming applications, such
as trucks and ships.
"The fall of oil prices has diminished
much of the glow from what was an
overly optimistic market opportunity for
natural gas in transportation," assesses
Michael Stoppard, chief strategist for
global gas-IHS Energy. "Nonetheless,
the shift to greater natural gas use in trucks
is set to continue. It is widely accepted that
power generation is the primary growth
market for natural gas demand, but gas as
a fuel offers a new market with potentially more value."
According to the study, worldwide oil
consumption in trucks is almost as high as
in cars, but it often is more economic for
truck fleets to switch to alternative fuel
sources. Truck fleets have a relatively
quick turnover, which the study says
could lead to faster adoption of new technology.

"At a time of abundant LNG supply in
search of insufficient markets, this extra
demand could be critical for mitigating
oversupply. Companies will need to adapt
their business models to take advantage of
the market opportunity," says Rafael McDonald, the study's project manager.
The study says lower oil prices may
slow natural gas adoption in the short term
but is unlikely to halt it. Much of what IHS
calls the "launch pad for expansion,"
such as critical infrastructure, either is in
place or close to being installed in key markets such as the United State and China.
While the growth outlooks for gas demand in fuel are strong globally, the study
finds big differences between drivers and
outcomes in key regions. However, in all
regions the fuel tax treatment will be critical in determining consumer choices, especially as oil prices fluctuate. IHS says a
minimum level of fueling infrastructure is
essential to jump-start adoption.
