HOUSTON-As the international offshore industry's flagship event, the Offshore Technology Conference brings together oil and gas professionals from
around the world to advance the technology and science associated with developing offshore resources in the safest, most
economic and most environmentally responsible manner.
A key part of OTC's mission is showcasing innovations in all aspects of offshore
operations, from enhanced-azimuth exploration geophysics to high-pressure/hightemperature drilling and subsea production.
This year's OTC, scheduled for May 2-5
at NRG Park in Houston, once again
recognizes several of the newest and potentially most impactful technologies on
display in the exhibit areas with the Spotlight on New Technology Award.
This year's Spotlight Award recipients
will be honored at 4 p.m. on Monday, May
2, in the NRG Center Rotunda Lobby. To
qualify for the award, technologies must
be original, fewer than two years old, and
proven through full-scale application or
prototype testing. According to OTC
Spotlight Award Committee Chairman
Mark Kalman, they also have to demonstrate broad industry appeal, and provide
a potentially significant impact that goes
beyond existing technologies.
For the second consecutive year, OTC
will also present the Spotlight on Small
Business Award. In addition to the criteria for the New Technology Award,
Kalman says the recipient also must be independently owned and operated or a nonprofit with no more than 300 employees
for the 12 months preceding the application deadline.

embody OTC's mission to advance scientific and technical knowledge for the
safe, environmentally friendly development of offshore oil and gas resources,"
