The Arizona Geological Survey provides administrative and
staff support for the Arizona Oil and Gas Conservation Commission. Nyal Niemuth is the oil and gas administrator, and handles the day-to-day administrative and regulatory functions required in drilling and producing oil, gas, helium and geothermal
resources. Arizona is treated as a single geographic region for enforcing oil and gas regulations.

The Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission is composed of nine
commissioners appointed by the governor for six-year terms. Chad
White serves as chairman of the commission.
Lawrence E. Bengal, director of conservation and production,
is the commission's chief executive, assisted by Assistant Director
Gary Looney in the El Dorado regional office, and Assistant Director Steve Gates in the Fort Smith regional office.

The California Division of Oil, Gas and Geothermal Resources
is under the direction of State Oil & Gas Supervisor Kenneth Harris, phone 916-445-9686. Brady Van Engelen (916-323-0413)
serves as special assistant to the supervisor, John Geroch (916445-9686) is chief deputy, and Alan Walker (916-323-2258) is
technical program manager.
The division regulates operations from a headquarters office
in Sacramento and field offices for four oil, gas and geothermal
districts. Field enforcement, permitting, and records/auditing functions are coordinated by the four district deputies.
Some overlapping responsibilities with the California State
Lands Commission and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management
exist for drilling, production and inspection, and administering
oil and gas activities on government-owned lands.
