U.S. Silica Debuts Proppant
For Low-Temperature Wells
FREDERICK, MD.-U.S. Silica Holdings Inc. now offers InnoProp® PLT, a
newly formulated resin-coated proppant
designed specifically for enhancing oil
and gas recovery in low-temperature
reservoirs.
According to the company, independent
tests show this proprietary polyurethanebased formula delivers best-in-class bond
strength, crush resistance and conductivity.
U.S. Silica adds that its broad network
of strategically located transload facilities
served by Class I railroads allows InnoProp
PLT to be delivered to locations within
100 miles of more than 80 percent of
active drilling rigs.
The proppant bonds without the use
of an activator in bottom-hole static temperatures as low as 70 degrees Fahrenheit,
U.S. Silica says. The company mentions
that InnoProp PLT can re-bond, which
helps it sustain performance under cyclic
stress.
"The key to producing a quality resincoated proppant begins with its substrate,"
says Don Weinheimer, vice president and
general manager of U.S. Silica's oil and
gas division. "Like all InnoProp proppants,
InnoPropo PLT utilizes our premium U.S.
Silica White® sand, which ensures quality
and consistency in every shipment."

compressor. In the 1980s, the JGR was
named after Robert P. Ramsey, who got
Jim Buchwald started designing compressors. In the 1990s, Ariel introduced
the JGC in honor of Bill Crooks, a seasoned engineer who mentored Buchwald
in his first job at Cooper Bessemer in the
mid-1950s. Buchwald credited Ramsey
with teaching him to "get to the heart of
the problem, cut through extraneous technical complications, and find the most
workable solution."

Wright notes she joined Ariel in 1980
and has served as president and chief executive officer since 2001. "It has been an
honor to be part of Ariel's history, and I
am grateful to the hardworking employees
and customers who have made our company
successful," she says. "I have no doubt
that as we pass the torch to the third generation, we will continue our legacy of
building reliable, efficient and user-friendly
compressors that provide clean, affordable
natural gas throughout the world."

CGG is conducting a
multiclient airborne
gravity and magnetic
survey offshore South
Africa. The survey will
extend across two
blocks totaling 48,466
line miles and cover
areas offshore Cape
Agulhas in the West
Bredasdorp area and
offshore Durban in the
Eastern Margin area,
CGG details. Data acquisition, which commenced in January, is
anticipated to take four months utilizing specialized geophysical survey aircraft, CGG
says. The company promises the survey will provide partial coverage of the largely underexplored Western Bredasdorp, Durban and Zululand basins, and assist with mapping
crystalline basement and magnetic and density anomalies within the sedimentary section.

Cheniere Transports LNG In First Export From U.S.
HOUSTON-A liquefied natural gas
tanker has shipped the first LNG cargo
to leave the continental United States.
The LNG carrier Asia Vision left the
Cheniere Energy Partners LP terminal
on Feb. 24, heading for Brazil with LNG
produced from train 1 of the Sabine Pass
facility in Cameron Parish, La.
According to media sources, the
160,000-cubic-meter shipment was purchased by Brazil's Petrobras, and will be
transported to its regasification terminal
in All Saints' Bay, Bahia.
"This historic event opens a new chapter for the country in energy trade, and is
a significant milestone for Cheniere as
we prepare train 1 for commercial operations," says Neal Shear, chairman of the
board and interim chief executive officer
of Cheniere Partners.

Through its wholly owned subsidiary,
Sabine Pass LNG LP, Cheniere Partners
owns 100 percent of the Sabine Pass terminal. The terminal boasts five LNG storage tanks with a capacity of 16.9 billion
cubic feet equivalent and vaporizers with
regasification capacity of 4.0 Bcf a day,
the company says. Another wholly owned
subsidiary, Cheniere Creole Trail Pipeline
LP, owns a 94-mile pipeline that connects
the Sabine Pass LNG terminal with a
number of large interstate pipelines.
Cheniere Partners, through its subsidiary, Sabine Pass Liquefaction LLC,
notes it is constructing liquefaction facilities at the Sabine Pass terminal. The
company says it plans to construct as
many as six liquefaction trains, each with
a nominal LNG production capacity of
4.5 million tons a year.
