Oklahoma Natural Gas
Oklahoma is the fifth-largest shale
gas producing state, after Texas, Louisiana,
Pennsylvania and Arkansas, and our state's
proved reserves are substantial. The Woodford Shale, located in both the Ardmore
and Arkoma basins, is the state's largest
shale gas play and holds an estimated
22.2 trillion cubic feet of technically recoverable natural gas resources. Emerging
unconventional plays, including the
Anadarko Basin's Cana-Woodford Shale,
will add to the natural gas resources on
which our state can rely.
But to see the true benefit of Oklahoma
natural gas, we must find new ways to
utilize our own natural resources within
our borders. About half the natural gas
delivered to consumers in Oklahoma is
used for electric power generation, and
although more than half of Oklahoma
households use natural gas as their primary
energy source for home heating, the residential sector is responsible for only
about a tenth of natural gas use.
Combining both shale and conventional
production, Oklahoma ranks as the country's fourth-largest natural gas producer,
but only 30 percent of that production is
used in the state. The remainder is sent to
nonproducing states to generate electricity,
as feedstock for the chemical industry, to
power manufacturing centers, or toward
residential and transportation uses.
By comparison, the three states ranked
ahead of Oklahoma in natural gas production-Texas, Pennsylvania and Louisiana-use 46, 45 and 52 percent of the
natural gas they produce, respectively.

MULTIPLE STAGE
CEMENTING COLLAR

This tool is used to effectively cement upper
sections of the casing string after displacing
cement around the lower section. The tool provides a means of opening and closing port
holes for cement displacement and positive
containment of the cement after displacement.
All internal parts are easily drilled, and are
firmly held from rotating during drilling. The
port closing sleeve is positively locked in
position after cementing.
When running the collar, it is advisable to place
a casing centralizer above and below and to
run a cementing basket below the cementing
ports. After running the collar to setting depth,
the lower section is cemented in the conventional
manner except the cement is displaced with
the flexible cementing plug furnished with the
collar. This is bumped against the shut-off
baffle which is also furnished. A slight pressure
build-up of 300-400 psi will assure plug is
seated in baffle. The port holes in the multiple
stage cementing collar are opened for doing
the second stage by dropping the trip bomb
and applying approximately 800-1000 psi pressure. The second stage is displaced with the
closing plug which is also furnished with the
tool. When the closing plug bumps approximately
800-1000 psi pressure will close the port holes.
