Annual Meeting
According to Easter, AIPRO is set to
host its annual convention Oct. 6-7 at the
Embassy Suites Hotel in Little Rock,
where attendees will have a chance to
network with other association members
and hear the latest information on the
energy industry.
Easter confirms the association is focusing on geopolitical and financial topics,
such as the market forecast for oil and
gas, air and water quality regulations,
safety, federal taxes, and export restrictions
on crude oil and liquefied natural gas.
The convention will begin Tuesday,
Oct. 6, with a golf outing and sporting
clays shoot for registrants, which Robbins
and Miller say will be excellent opportunities for members to network and reconnect.
Following the networking events, Easter says the convention's afternoon sessions
will feature a variety of speakers and
topics. Among them:
* Tommy Foltz, executive vice
president of the Consumer Energy
Alliance, will discuss the politics of
energy and opponents of oil and gas
production.
* Becky Keogh, director of the
Arkansas Department of Environmental
Quality, and Larry Bengal, director of the
Arkansas Oil & Gas Commission, will
provide a state regulatory update.
* Laura Garrett, special agent at the
Federal Bureau of Investigation, will
look at threats to the oil and gas industry.
* Arkansas Attorney General Leslie
Rutledge will explain her plan to fight
metal theft.
Easter reports the meeting's keynote

speaker will be Kyle Isakower, vice president of regulatory and economic policy
at the American Petroleum Institute, who
will give his presentation on global energy
markets during the Oct. 6 membership
dinner.
On Wednesday, Oct. 7, Easter says
the morning session will include four
notable presentations on production- and
well site-related issues, including a presentation on natural gas-to-liquids from
Jim Wimberly of Energy Security Partners,
and a discussion on federal tax issues
and export restrictions by Pete Regan,
executive director of the Domestic Energy
Producers Alliance.
Easter also highlights Wednesday
morning's well site and workplace safety
panel with Trena Adair of Harbor Environmental & Safety, Ronald Goodman
at XTO Energy, and Clay Murphy with
Insurance Center Inc.
AIPRO President A. Miller says he
wants members to take note of the producers' panel featuring Steve Mueller of
Southwestern Energy Co., Robert
Reynolds of Shuler Drilling, and Howard
Vernon with Foundation Energy Management. "I am especially excited about
the producers' panel, which will allow
our membership to hear from representatives from each of Arkansas' three distinctly different and important production
areas," he says.
During the Wednesday membership
luncheon, Paige Miller will update AIPRO
members on the association's education
and outreach efforts. The meeting will
conclude after a presentation from humorist
and motivational speaker Rik Roberts.
"Our annual meeting is always a highlight of AIPRO's year," A. Miller comments. "It provides members of our community with an excellent opportunity to
come together, compare notes and share
experiences, while also educating ourselves
on a variety of important issues."

Gastar Drills Second Well In Utica/Point Pleasant

HOUSTON-Gastar Exploration Inc.,
has reported initial and 30-day average
production on its second Utica/Point
Pleasant well.
The company says its Blake U-7H well,
located in Marshall County, W.V., produced
at a peak 48-hour gross sales rate of 36.8
million cubic feet a day of natural gas. On
a restricted flow basis, the well's postpeak-rate 30-day production averaged 20.2
MMcf/d. The company later reported a
five-day average rate of 14.8 MMcf/d.
According to Gastar, the Blake U-7H
well was drilled to a lateral length of
6,617 feet, and was completed with 34
hydraulic fracture stages with 14.8 million

pounds of proppant. Gastar confirms it
has a 50 percent working interest in the
Blake U-7H well and a 41.1 percent net
revenue interest.
"We are very pleased with the results
of our second dry gas Utica well because
it demonstrates the consistency of the
prolific production from the Utica/Point
Pleasant play across our leasehold," President and Chief Executive Officer J. Russell Porter comments. "We have no plans
to drill another Utica/Point Pleasant well
until regional gas prices improve, and
returns on investment become competitive,
relative to our other internal investment
opportunities."
