CGG Closes Acquisition
Of Geomechanics Expert

PARIS-CGG's GeoConsulting business line has acquired Taurus Reservoir
Solutions Ltd., a Calgary-based firm that
offers reservoir and geomechanical simulation and engineering technology, as
well as consulting services.
With an offering that spans singlewell to large field-scale solutions, CGG
says Taurus brings new subsurface understanding to both conventional and unconventional reservoirs.
"We are delighted to extend the scope
of our geoscience portfolio further toward
the reservoir with the geomechanical and
engineering capabilities of Taurus," says
Sophie Zurquiyah, CGG's senior executive
vice president of geology, geophysics

WCS Offers Course Aimed
At Coiled Tubing Operators

HOUSTON-Well Control School has
released a supervisor-level, International
Association of Drilling Contractors WellCAP®-accredited coiled tubing course
through the System 21 e-learning program.
Designed for experienced coiled tubing
operators, the course uses instruction and
workshops to train students according to
the latest methodology and industry standards for well intervention in coiled
tubing operations, WCS says.
"This course provides a cost-effective
way to obtain critical training," says WCS
President Ed Geissler. "It is Web-based
and available 24/7, so students can take the
class at their convenience without incurring
travel time and expenses."
According to Geissler, participants
who pass the course will receive the
WCS and IADC WellCAP coiled tubing

New Website Offers Info On Atlas Copco Drill Bits

SALT LAKE CITY-To help drilling
professionals, Atlas Copco has launched
a website dedicated to its oil and gas
drilling tools.
Atlas Copco Secoroc manufactures
bits in Salt Lake City. The company says
these bits are particularly suited for landbased drilling. They include steel and
matrix PDC drill bits with deep leach
cutters, as well as Klaw bits for rotary
soft rock drilling, PDC reamers, and Plug-

cutters undergo a process that selectively removes cobalt from their diamond table, increasing their thermal
stability and extending bit life in difficult and abrasive formations.

Tall Oak Branches Out By Forming Tall Oak II
OKLAHOMA CITY-Tall Oak Midstream LLC's founders have formed Tall
Oak Midstream II LLC with an initial
equity commitment of as much as $300
million from private equity firm EnCap
Flatrock Midstream and Tall Oak management.
The founders say Tall Oak will continue to focus on operating and expanding
its midstream assets in the Mid-Continent,
while Tall Oak II will pursue midstream
opportunities in other resource plays
across North America. Both companies
are led by President and Chief Executive
Officer Ryan Lewellyn, Chief Commercial
Officer Carlos P. Evans, Chief Financial
Officer Max J. Myers, and Chief Operating
Officer Lindel R. Larison.
"This is a responsive and dynamic
team that works closely with customers
to provide flexible, reliable midstream
solutions that are in place when and
where they are needed," says Dave Kurtz,
one of EnCap Flatrock's four managing
directors and a member of the Tall Oak

The original Tall Oak formed early
last year. The company reports that its
total cryogenic processing capacity in
the Mid-Continent is 75 million cubic

feet a day and is on schedule to reach
175 MMcf/d across two systems with

To enable operators to run casing and
liner strings more efficiently, Volant now

the company, the rings provide a cost-effective way to increase casing and tubing connections' torque capacity. In
tubing strings, the extra capacity can
