Bill Barrett has transitioned predominantly from 640-acre well spacing to
1,280-acre spacing, Stenzel details, describing that as more economical because it trims drilling and completion costs
20-25 percent while adding recoveries.
Bill Barrett produced around 11,500
boe/d in the D-J during the first quarter of
2015, of which 71 percent was oil, 11 percent was liquids and the rest gas, he explains. Industry reports peg the extended
reach wells' break-even price at about $43
WTI, Stenzel reveals, adding that the DJ Basin ranks fourth among basins with the
lowest break-even price for oil and liquids
programs.
"We are happy with it and with that fact
that results have been improving," Stenzel says. "Our confidence has been improving. It's really the driver for the company

Good D-J Basin Results

DENVER-Bill Barrett Corp. has announced well results on its first nine extended reach lateral wells drilled in the
Northeast Wattenberg area of the DenverJulesburg Basin.
The company says the first nine extended reach lateral wells it drilled in the
Northeast Wattenberg to reach 30 days of

wells in the northern block and three wells

C formations. The nine wells were
drilled with an average lateral length of
9,140 feet, the company relates, of
which six were completed with a hybrid
sliding sleeve and plug-and-perf technology, and three with only plug-and-perf
technology. All wells were completed
with 40 fracture stimulation stages and
an average 8.4 million pounds of sand,
then placed on gas lift, the company details.
