'I have worked for Haven for 13 years
- until last year I was an Owner
Experience Manager,' says Luke Cullen.
'My job was really exciting, ensuring
the holiday home owners have the best
experience with us on park.
'I was responsible for all aspects
of their stay including the repairs of
their holiday home, the events and parties
we host for them and the administration
of their accounts. After a year I was
approached by my manager about my
progression plan with the company.
'It was my aim to become a General
Manager within two years so it was
important I had the opportunity to
understand the business from a new
perspective. I was fortunate enough to get
signed on to the Next Gen Programme,
which was brilliant. I learned lots about
myself. At end of the programme I was
thrilled to be offered a General Manager
position in Lincolnshire - and I love it.'

Haven launched an internal management
development programme called 'Next
Generation' to facilitate career progression,
combining centrally driven learning events
and on the job training.
The programme combines leadership
and operational skills, focusing on guest
experience, and covers accommodation,
sport and leisure, caravan sales, and
retail. The programme encourages cross
departmental working, through project
activities and an exciting Outbounding
event; which is based on the values and
leadership in action. This takes place at
the beautiful Perran Sands park, nestled
on the Cornish coast near Perranporth.
The programme is heavily supported
by a team of central experts, General
Managers, on park, and with every
'next genner' getting a mentor to guide
them through their development.
