Public Health England research shows less than half of office workers take a full lunch break, with the average worker now spending 75% of the day sitting down - and only moving to make cups of tea or visit the loo. Paralympian Baroness Grey-Thompson, who's chair of the not-for-profit health body ukactive, has called for a much-needed culture shift in office life - with more bosses incorporating activity plans, corporate gym memberships and sit-stand desks (see right). 'Research shows active employees are happier, healthier and more productive - so it's a win-win,' she says. Best newbie behaviour - for now The average Brit is only on their best behaviour for six weeks after starting a new job, according to a new survey. The settling-in period will see them go all out to impress a new boss, with 61% of female employees bringing in homemade cakes and 67% of male employees buying workmates lunch. Arriving at work early is a focus for nearly a quarter of workers and 16% claim they'll only check their phones during their designated breaks. But soon they're more likely to sneak in some personal admin and 'me-time' tasks.
