Kerry Robertson, Team Leader, agrees:
'CHEP uses a 70/20/10 approach to
development - 10% on formal education,
20% on coaching and mentoring and 70%
on learning through job experience.'
It seems the system works, since many of
CHEP's senior managers started at junior
levels and worked their way up.
'I feel valued, listened to, challenged
and supported,' says Anna Turner, Senior
Customer Services Manager. 'And I love
seeing the new generation coming
through with great new ideas.'

A colleague recognition scheme was
implemented through the company's
'Great Place To Work' forum, whereby
employees can nominate fellow
colleagues who have done something
exceptional and additional to their regular
duties, and CHEP then rewards the
candidates with vouchers.
'We tend to concentrate on looking
for solutions to problems rather than just
focusing on the issues,' says Anna. 'People
are very friendly and positive, and there's
a good balance of work hard, play hard
- which I ﬁt in with rather well!'
