GE To Provide Engines
For HongHua Drill Rigs
HOUSTON-GE Power & Water's distributed power business and HongHua
Group, China's leading drilling rig manufacturer, report they have signed a threeyear agreement for GE to supply its
Waukesha VHP gas engines to power
drilling rigs designed for shale gas projects
in China.
"GE's proven Waukesha gas engines
have earned industrywide recognition for
their high efficiency and reliability in
powering successful shale gas projects
in the United States," says Zhang Mi,
chairman and president of HongHua
Group. "Our agreement with GE strengthens our ability to sell drill rigs by (enabling
us to offer) Waukesha gas engines as a
more cost-effective on-site power solution."
Each engine will generate as much as
three megawatts of power, GE reports.
Because the engines can run on field gas,
the company says they will enable operators to reduce fuel transportation costs
and optimize rig availability.

Pellerin Water Solutions, a
subsidiary of Pellerin Energy
Group, reports it has designed and built a horizontal
floatation separator (HF-SEP)
for Stone Energy Corp.'s
Pompano facility in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. The HFSEP, with dissolved gas
flotation technologies, will
enhance the oil and water
separation process to maximize production and increase
profitability, Pellerin says,
noting that the system can
treat 40,000 barrels of water a
day for discharge. "The horizontal floatation separator is one of the largest of its kind in the Gulf of Mexico and was

Altronic GTI Bi-Fuel Attains Industry's First CARB OK
GIRARD, OH.-HOERBIGER Engine
Solutions' subsidiary Altronic LLC says
its GTI Bi-Fuel® product line has received
aftermarket certification from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for
use on off-road compression-ignition engines in stationary applications.
According to the company, the system
is designed to allow diesel engines to operate on a blend of diesel and gaseous
fuels. By displacing a portion of the
diesel fuel with natural gas, operators
can reduce fuel costs significantly, extend
the diesel tank's run time, reduce the required volume of aboveground liquid fuel
storage and ease the logistical burden of
trucking diesel fuel to difficult-to-reach
locations, Altronic indicates.
HOERBIGER Senior Vice President
of OEM Sales Keith Brooks says Altronic
is the market's first aftermarket supplier
of a bi-fuel system to receive such an executive order from the state. "The process
was not easy, and we quickly realized
we were blazing a new trail with the cooperation of CARB, but in the end we
were able to reach common ground, and
the GTI system was able to pass the
stringent emissions testing required by

the state of California," he relates. "The
bottom line is that the process provides a
path for emissions compliance for the
users of this product."

Museum Seeks Candidates For Petroleum Hall of Fame
MIDLAND, TX.-The Permian Basin
Petroleum Museum is accepting nominations for the Petroleum Hall of Fame,
which it says recognizes those who cherished the freedom to dare and helped
build the Permian Basin.
Nominees should have made outstanding contributions to the petroleum industry
or served as worthy examples, the museum
says. It adds that they can be either living
or deceased, and their wealth will not be
considered.
"To be inducted into the Petroleum
Museum Hall of Fame is an honor that is
second to none in the oil and gas industry,
as only four people or teams are elected
by their peers every other year," says
Paul Morris, who chairs the Hall of Fame
Committee.
Morris points out that the Hall's mem-

bers include some of the most influential
men and women in the industry's history,
such as former presidents George H.W.
Bush and George W. Bush, Erle P. Halliburton, and former U.S. Secretary of
Commerce Donald Evans. The most recent
honorees were former Speaker of the Texas
House Thomas R. Craddick, R-Midland,
Timothy A. Leach, Scott D. Sheffield, and
Deane H. Stoltz, he adds.
Nominations are due Sept. 1. The museum says they should be accompanied
by a cover letter that includes the name
of the candidate, a clear statement explaining why the nominee should be considered, and a biographical sketch.
