New System Offers Means
To Ease Spill Containment
LAFAYETTE, LA.-Newpark Mats
and Integrated Services (NMIS), a unit
of Newpark Resources Inc., has introduced
the DURA-BASE® DEFENDERTM linerless spill containment system, which
the company describes as a breakthrough
spill protection technology that offers a
faster and more efficient way to achieve
total site spill containment.
DEFENDER incorporates NMIS's
DURA-BASE mats into a fully integrated
structure for total site containment, NMIS
reports. The company says that as an allin-one solution, DEFENDER protects the
environment while eliminating costs associated with transporting, repairing and
disposing of liners.
The system features NMIS's DX4 Sealing TechnologyTM, the company notes,
saying this key component limits spills to
the surface of the mats to make cleanup
fast and easy. The specially engineered,
redundant seals are fully integrated and
offer two layers of protection around each
mat, ensuring that on-site installation requires minimal labor, the company adds.
The enhanced Cellar Protection SystemTM reinforces the critical cellar region
with a third layer of security, NMIS says.
According to the company, the proprietary
system is custom-fitted for any cellar, on
any site. The fully integrated wall berms
and drive-over berms improve work site
safety by easing access to the work platform while providing additional splash
protection, the company reports.

North Dakota Producers Help Local Communities
BISMARCK, N.D.-The North Dakota Petroleum Council reports it has presented donations totaling $187,000 to
six charities:
* The State Historical Society of
North Dakota Foundation, which will
use the funds for its expanded heritage
center;
* Village Family Services Center,
which offers mental health and other
support services designed to improve
peoples' quality of life by strengthening
individuals, families, and organizations;
* Dolly Parton's Imagination Library
(through the Missouri Slope Areawide
United Way), an early childhood literacy
program;
* The Dakota Heritage Foundation,
for equipment needed to build and improve pheasant, dear and other wildlife
habitat in western North Dakota;
* Lewis and Clark Fort Mandan Foundation, for a prairie grasslands restoration
project at the Lewis & Clark Interpretive

Center in Washburn, N.D.; and
* The Children's Museum of Minot,
which provides exhibits and programs
that stimulate children's curiosity and
motivate learning.
The funds came from revenues generated by the Williston Basin Petroleum
Conference in May and the Oil Can!
Fishing Derby, NDPC notes. The council
adds that the ceremony where the donations were presented marked the completion of its first Fuel and Food Drive,
which collected 5,360 pounds of food
for western North Dakota food pantries
and 589 toys for Toys for Tots to deliver
to underprivileged children in western
North Dakota.
"We are excited to work with the
North Dakota Petroleum Council and its
members to help spread joy this holiday
season," says Michelle Charvat, local
coordinating officer for Toys for Tots.

Through the Missouri Slope Areawide
United Way, the North Dakota Petroleum
Council has donated $10,000 to Dolly
Parton's Imagination Library, an early
childhood literacy program.The council
says it hopes to raise enough money
to fund the program throughout western
North Dakota's oil-producing counties.

NCS Licenses Technology
To Thru Tubing Solutions

DENVER-To enhance market access
for Williston Basin producers, BOE Midstream LLC has signed an interconnection
agreement with the Tesoro High Plains
Pipeline.
Located at BOE's LL Terminals facility
in Killdeer, N.D., the connection with
Tesoro Logistics' 700-mile crude oil gathering system and pipeline was scheduled
to commence commercial operations late
last year. According to BOE, when completed, it will provide producers and other
shippers with critical crude by rail market
outlets through pipeline inbound access
to BOE's Bakken Oil Express Rail Terminal
in Dickinson, N.D., a crude-by-rail facility

HOUSTON-NCS Multistage LLC has
licensed its patented resettable packer
technology to Thru Tubing Solutions Inc.
The license allows Thru Tubing to
use the NCS packer technology in conjunction with abrasive perforating when
perforating multistage completions, NCS
details. The resettable packer is a key
component of NCS's Multistage Unlimited® fracture isolation system and is deployed on coiled tubing to temporarily
isolate a stage from the wellbore, NCS
notes, adding that the technology has
stimulated 100,000 stages.

access to end-user markets on the East,
West and Gulf coasts, BOE notes.

new interconnect will provide our mutual
customers with another, and in some
cases, more direct and economical shipping
option to get their production to market."
