Planning the wedding tuned out to be a snap thanks to the wonderful wedding coordinator Nicole hired. “I think the toughest thing for us was choosing the music! I thought I would be so stressed the day of the wedding, but I was cool, collected and totally excited,” she says. Both Nicole and Peter agreed on her father’s house in Sacramento as the ultimate venue for the ceremony and reception. Nicole remembers paging through her mother’s wedding album as a little girl. Their all white wedding had a white gazebo and white lights in the trees, like a fairy tale. “I have always wanted that, and I think my father created the yard and gazebo for that very reason,” she says. “Most of our guests who attended my parents wedding were amazed at how alike the two events were.” The ceremony itself was a moving event, presided over by their friend Jeff, who became an ordained minister online just to marry the couple. “We really wanted it to be about us, and Jeff delivered,” Nicole notes. “He truly let everyone know who we were and why we were there. We laughed and cried…it was wonderful.” And just as he did the night Peter proposed, Freddie dutifully performed as ring bearer once again. Thanks to a love for our national pastime, the couple’s reception had a unique playfulness, a nod their first meeting. The tables were each named after stadiums and adorned with wheat grass and baseballs. “Peter’s dad is from Boston, so we gave him Fenway Park,” says Nicole. “our table was the park we first met at, the one where I kicked Pete to third base.” Guests even took time to autograph some of the balls sitting on their tables. Thanks to a suggestion from her wedding coordinator, Nicole set up a Polaroid book for guests to snap impromptu shots and leave fun messages. looking at the book later, both Nicole and Peter recall the magic of their special day. “We took in every moment and were surrounded with love from our family and friends. It was absolutely amazing.” Sounds like a home run wedding to me.
