Ulterra UD511 Bit Sets
Record In Haynesville
FORT WORTH-In its first run in the
Haynesville Shale, Ulterra's 6.75-inch
UD511 bit set a same-rig record for drilling
a curve section, doing so in 35 hours at a
rate of penetration of 23.4 feet an hour,
the company reports.
The five-bladed bit with 11 mm cutters
was a departure from the typical drilling
program, Ulterra notes, in which sevenbladed, 11-cutter bits and 2-plus-degree
bend motors have been used to ensure
steerability while achieving build rates
necessary to hit the target. ROPs for the
seven-bladed bits have averaged 12-15
ft/hr, the company adds, although it says
an Ulterra UD711 bit achieved 20 ft/hr.
According to Ulterra, the UD511's
steel-body design and short-gauge configuration were designed specifically for
Haynesville curve and build sections.❒

Nuevo Midstream Adds To Delaware Basin Plant

HOUSTON-Oil and gas testing and
measurement firm Coastal Flow Measurement and pipeline products and services
provider American Innovations say they
are collaborating to combine two best-inclass remote monitoring systems-BirdDogTM
remote data retrieval and Bullhorn® remote
monitoring-to measure data and report
alarm conditions for oil and gas assets.
According to the companies, BirdDog
utilizes the latest communications equipment
and technologies to collect data and monitor
field operations. By coupling this system
with Bullhorn, Coastal Flow indicates it
will be able to offer robust alarming capabilities in addition to data collection.
Bullhorn will send alarms securely
through satellite or digital cellular networks
when equipment reaches preprogrammed
parameters such as high or low tank levels,
Coastal Flow reports. BirdDog users will
be able to view their data and alarms in
customized web page layouts, the company
says, adding that advanced security features
permit selective data viewing and sharing.
By using these systems for remote monitoring, the partners say companies can
obtain measurement data and address critical
issues efficiently, without the cost of building
and maintaining complex SCADA systems.

Johnson Matthey, HARCO Team For HAPs Converters

HOUSTON-Nuevo Midstream LLC
announces plans to significantly increasing
processing and treating capacity at its
Ramsey plant site, which is in the Delaware Basin near Orla, Tx.
Nuevo says it will install a cryogenic
processing plant with a capacity of 100
million cubic feet a day and a second
amine treating plant with a capacity of
475 gallons a minute. Both are expected
to be operational in the second quarter of
2012, the company reports.
Nuevo adds that it will be expanding
its Ramsey gathering system with large
diameter, natural gas gathering lines and
an interconnect to the El Paso natural

MALVERN, PA.-Johnson Matthey's
Stationary Emissions Control (SEC) group
and HARCO Manufacturing Co. announce
they will collaborate on developing innovative catalytic converters with superior
silencing to help customers comply with
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
regulations, including those covering reciprocating internal combustion engine
national emission standards for hazardous
air pollutants (RICE NESHAP).
The companies say that RICE NESHAP limits stationary diesel and gas
engine emissions of formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, acrolein, methanol, and nearly
200 other compounds.

Eddy County in Southeast New Mexico
and Culberson, Loving and Reeves counties in West Texas. As of mid-December,
Nuevo reports, it was serving 38 producers
pursuing the liquids-rich Bone Springs,
Wolfcamp and Avalon Shale plays.
When the expansion is complete, Nuevo says it will have 110 MMcf/d of processing capacity and 625 gpm of treating
capacity at the Ramsey plant, as well as
180 miles of high- and low-pressure
pipeline, and residue connections to interstate and intrastate markets.
