HAS BEEN WORKING AS A
LEARNING DISABILITY SUPPORT
WORKER WITH HERITAGE
CARE FOR 18 MONTHS
"Initially I thought I couldn't
apply as I had no experience
of working with people with a
learning disability. I soon found
out it wasn't about experience,
but about having the right
attitudes and behaviours.
"I truly love my job. I support
someone on a one-to-one basis
who has a learning disability and
autism. Their communication
skills have really improved and
it makes me proud to think I
might be part of that change.
"Heritage Care encourages you
to learn. I've just inished my QCF
Level 2 in social care and my goal
is to become a team leader."
provides them with comprehensive
and thorough support and training,
regardless of role or job title,
throughout their career at the charity.
Working in the health and social
care sector is hard work, challenging
and demanding. But it can also be
highly rewarding, extremely satisfying
and incredibly worthwhile.
For operational-based staff, Heritage Care
can offer a variety of job opportunities

The charity is a dynamic and evolving
organisation. In 2016, Community Options,
a provider of specialist mental health
services, became a fully integrated part
of the organisation and now operates
as a trading name of Heritage Care.
This means that its corporate services,
which are primarily based in Loughton,
Essex, together with other regional
support offices in Bromley, Greater
London, and Grantham, Lincolnshire,
are busier than ever. Corporate services
includes learning and development, HR
including the recruitment team, IT, finance,
payroll and corporate administration.
